The 414-acre Americana site is located in Zachary, Louisiana, alongside State Highway 64, just west of Old Scenic Highway near Barnett Road. The initial phase of the neighborhood's development is currently underway with construction scheduled for Spring of 2013. Americana is a community full of green spaces with plenty of space for playing with the kids, riding bicycles, or just enjoying the great outdoors. Neighborhood planners have placed great emphasis on preserving the area's natural character wherever possible. The Zachary Community Schools operate in a "grade-center" concept. By the time of high school graduation, a longtime student will likely have attended each of the schools in the district. From the Pre-Kindergarten program at Zachary Early Learning Center to Northwestern Elementary School for kindergarten and first grade, then on to Zachary Elementary for second and third grade. After going to Copper Mill Elementary for fourth and fifth grade, middle school students attend Northwestern Middle for grades six through eight. Zachary High School, the district's only high school, teaches students in grades nine through twelve. The district also includes Port Hudson Career Academy, which accommodates both the Options and Alternative School programs.
